The Unfolding Life Around Us

The three- and four-year-old Kindergarten children observed creatures within their garden spaces, noticing subtle changes through a lens of curiosity and protection. As a community, they leaned into each other’s wonderings, holding conversations to share thoughts and questions about these creatures. By researching together, the children connected ideas through drawings, designs, constructions, books, and shared language, bringing their thinking to life. These experiences revealed the children’s growing sense of coexistence with the more-than-human world, cultivated through their attunement to empathy, aesthetics, welcomeness, and collaboration.
